Form & Line In Dialogue
18th -26th November 2017
The Royal British Society of Sculptors
108, Old Brompton Road, Kensington, London SW7
In Cavaliero Finn’s next curated exhibition, Conversations – Form & Line In Dialogue, each of the fourteen participating artists work is distinguished by the implementation of form and line as a physical entity; each artist employing these intrinsic characteristics to articulate an idea or a concept. The gallery examines the dialogue between these multi-disciplinary works exploring the conversations of balance and harmony between form, line and the spaces in between. The exhibition will be staged in the exquisite, Grade II listed, Georgian building, Dora House, home to the Royal British Society of Sculptors, in Kensington, London.
An unusual and highly individual building, Dora House has been occupied by sculptors, architects and designers for over a century. Sitting in an area dominated by stuccoed Italianate villas, it stands out with its red brick and steep curved gables and beautiful, tall, leaded light windows. The period stone fireplaces, parquet flooring and strapwork wooden panelling inside hint at the home it once was to sculptor Cecil Thomas (1885-1976) and his wife Dora and so this occupation of a ‘former home’ appealed to us in every way.
