Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th December, 10.30am– 6pm
268 Croxted Road, Herne Hill, London SE24 9DA
We are once again opening the doors of our home gallery in Herne Hill for our Christmas Exhibition on the weekend of December 9th & 10th. At the show you’ll find a carefully curated selection of contemporary paintings, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and one-off design from some of the UK’s best artists and designers.
New to Cavaliero Finn is Icelandic artist Bjork Haraldsdottir. Bjork studied architecture at The Glasgow School of Art and worked in the industry for over 20 years for a number renowned architects including Richard Rogers before exploring her passion for ceramic forms. Her series of hand-built, stoneware sculptures feature monochrome, geometric designs and are heavily influenced by her Nordic heritage and architectural background. Bjork’s work was recently selected by fine artist and furniture designer, John Makepeace OBE as winner of the Applied Arts Prize at the Marshwood Arts Awards.
We are also delighted to be showing new sculptural table lamps by Margit Wittig. We first spotted Margit’s work at the House and Garden Festival at Olympia where the colourful hand-blown glass and resin features of her lamps caught our eye. Margit has made bespoke lamps for interior design team Nina Campbell as well as for the Firmdale Hotel Group and her lamps can be seen in their Whitby Hotel, New York, designed by Kit Kemp. Her work has been featured in a number of Interiors magazines including the front cover of Homes and Garden in November last year.
Gill Rocca was recently featured in the Observer Magazine as one of Marianne Elliot’s cultural highlights in ‘On My Radar’ and we’re pleased to be showing some of Gill’s latest work at the show. Marianne is an acclaimed theatre director responsible for, among other things, the award winning Warhorse and Angels in America at the National. She describes Gill’s work as ‘magical’, ‘mysterious’ and paintings where ‘you can see stories’. Gill’s work has recently been selected for The Columbia Threadneedle Prize 2018 exhibition.
If you love colour then you’ll be drawn to the beautiful work of Caroline Popham who is taking over the garden studio for this one weekend with her collages and works on paper. Caroline, trained at Chelsea College of Art and has worked with clients including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Jimmy Choo, Chinti & Parker and Mary McCartney to name but a few. For this show she is making new paintings and collages informed by human habits and routines. Caroline is drawn to repetitive actions and behaviours and the results are pared back, minimal and simply stunning.
The Christmas Exhibition will also feature: stunning new paintings by Trevor Burgess, D J Lowrie, Simon Ledson, Tony Beaver, Mia Cavaliero and Rebecca Mclynn; ceramics and sculpture by Sandra James, Rowena Brown, Akiko Hirai, Mizuyo Yamashita, Ikuko Iwamoto, Yuta Segawa, Jessica Thorn, Rhian Malin, Danuta Solowiej, Alice Mara, Daniel Reynolds, Jo Davies, Ali Miller, Graham Clayton and Sophie Cook and textiles and furniture by Mineheart, Sam Edkins and Galvin Brothers.
All of the work featured at the exhibition is for sale and can also be purchased online at www.cavalierofinn.com
