Happy St Patrick’s Day!
On this day we look at how magical Ireland has influenced the work of painter Rebecca McLynn. Ireland has had an extraordinarily powerful and sustained influence on the work of Rebecca, and talking about her work recently she said:
‘The West Coast with its truly magical light and rich dramatic terrain has beguiled and captivated my heart ever since I first visited over 25 years ago. The fresh exposed islands off Connemara, the dark brooding mountains where I now have a home, the beauty and solitude of, for example, the Doolough Pass and the huge deep valley lakes have informed the way I paint for many years. When working on a canvas, I want to capture not only the physical quality and texture of place, but the incredible atmosphere and feel of the weather experienced and of course the ineffable quality that pervades this beautiful country.’
