As we heard the news that we were yet again going into a national lockdown, we made haste and slipped in a visit to South East London, to the home and studio of Trevor Burgess. Click on the link below to watch our interview with Trevor and find out more about his series of market paintings which totally capture the sensual experience of being in the midst of a place that’s full of colour, energy and life – just what we need right now to take us out of our humdrum lockdown existence.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the paintings featured in the interview.
If you would like to see more of Trevor’s house and its interior check out journalist Jo Leevers’ interview for the Observer with photography by James Balston.
All of the items in our artist features are for sale so if you are tempted and would like to support an independent business and its artists in the run up to Christmas, we have plenty of artworks available for sale on the website and we’ll be adding lots more work priced at under £500 over the coming weeks.
In our next feature, we will share our visit to Bristol, to the studio of Catherine Knight where we find out how she got on with her latest social engagement project. A project which features a series of small, colourful gouache paintings derived from the images people sent her from all around the globe during the last lockdown.
