We are thrilled to be able to share with you the first images and the 3D virtual tour of Artefact, Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.  If you are able to visit in person we urge you to do so as this brand new contemporary craft fair features a truly fantastic collection of work from 15 leading contemporary craft galleries that is not to be missed.

Cavaliero Finn presents work from twelve artists from its portfolio including; Ashraf Hanna, Akiko Hirai, Björk Haraldsdóttir, Cecilia Moore, Caron Penney, Frances Priest, Hannah Tounsend, Katharine Swailes, Matthew Chambers, Mimi Joung, Nicholas Lees and Soledad Christie.

In this latest body of work, Ashraf Hanna revisits some of the forms that inspired the glass work he created while he was at the RA. In his kiln cast glass forms he exaggerated some aspects of the geometric shapes to exploit the material qualities of glass, and the interplay between light and colour as it travels through various densities.

Ashraf’s kiln cast glass forms inspired this new body of work for Artefact

Ashraf’s interest is still to explore the relationship between contrasting lines as vessels softly emerge from clearly defined geometric shapes. But now, the exaggerated forms in glass are beginning to inform these new ceramic works.

Artefact takes place in the Design Avenue at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.  It is an architectural space of breathtaking scale and proportion, with its dizzyingly high, four-storey, glass ceiling which showers the space with an abundance of natural light.  After months of not being able to visit art fairs in person, it is great to be part of this inaugural showcase of exceptional craft and to once again experience the tactility and joy that being surrounded by museum-quality, handcrafted objects can bring.

There is a talks programme curated by Grant Gibson which will also be broadcast live online and the virtual tour allows those unable to travel to join in with this celebration of contemporary craft.

Open now until Tuesday 29 June 2021
