Cecilia Moore’s latest work Balancing Act 1 and 2 draw on traditional silversmithing techniques of raising and patination to make brightly coloured sculptural forms in copper, bronze and silver.
The forms are simple, the colouring painterly, both taking playful inspiration from Morandi, Bosch and blurred childhood memories of sci-fi.
The work animates a precarious balance and movement, the forms wobble and rattle, settling at odd angles, engaging the onlooker to interact. There is a joyfulness in the pieces that has come through the process of making and the struggle of the maker to make.
