“He climbed towards the ridge of the Tor, leaning on the branch, and however far he climbed the ridge came no nearer. But he knew it was the trick of the Tor, so that only the strong mind would gain the peak. Behind him billowed to the Motherworld.”
From Boneland by Alan Garner
For the last few years Mia Cavaliero has been creating a series of paintings based on her fascination with the geometry, colour and light of the Derbyshire Peak District. This abstract landscape painting is part of this series. The distinct forms in this landscape are the result of geological formation as well as excavation in the form of quarrying across the region. Mia is interested in the inter-relationship between man and nature and the affect this has on shaping the topography of this beautiful place.
