“In the morning” and it's sister compostion “In the evening” by Ikuko Iwamoto were created by the artist in 2019. Ikuko has incorporated non-ceramic materials into her porcelain sculpture compositions for some time now but these works were the starting place for Ikuko's antique project works, now one of her main body of works. The fragments of wood and bones were found by Ikuko and her children while out on a riverside walk. Ikuko was drawn to the organic colours of these faded found objects and thought how much they would complement the colour of her non-grazed porcelain work and she decided to work with them.
The title of these works simply indicate the time when the idea of composition were decided.
