Winter Light is Katharine Swailes' largest single piece in the Colourfield series of tapestries to date. The dimensions of the work change the mark making and the supply of each colour of yarn. Unmapped, Katharine weaves intuitively, the final outcome unknown until the end only the hand dyeing of the yarn she works with create a structure to work with. It requires trust and nerve to weave in this way. The beautiful tones and movement in this tapestry are incredible capturing the light and subtle colours of the winter months.
