This work by Gaby Guz is inspired by her profoundly moving trip, in 2018, to the Okavango Delta, a huge network of waterways in Botswana.

She left the five-day boat and camping safari, flooded with powerful visceral and emotional responses.

Shortly after the trip, the Delta experienced its worst drought in recent years with devastating consequences for the local wildlife.

The unique experience of travelling the waterways, left her feeling, for a few days, that she and her family were the only humans on earth. They were privileged to be in that pristine environment, accompanied by hundreds of hippos, crocodiles, birds and elephants; briefly living amongst them, not just seeing them.

The unique shape of the Okavango waterways as seen, both from the air and the boat, has informed this work.
