Rowena Brown's ceramic sculpture is visually informed by the affects of
environmental damage and human disruption on architectural spaces. The
groups of abandoned buildings with their dark interiors or windowless
facades allude to themes of isolation and community and the concealment
and exposure of the self. The remote structures clinging to rock
like-plinths suggest a certain precariousness, a feeling of being
stranded, insecure and alone, facing the threat of our crumbling
environment.
