100 Club is a painting from David Edmond's music venue series which is a continuation of David's street paintings. In this paintings David portrays some of London’s much-loved music venues while they were quiet and closed to their performers and audiences during the pandemic lockdowns. They include The Forum, The Garage, The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Opera House, Ronnie Scott’s, Brixton Academy, The100 Club, The Rivoli Ballroom, Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room and more. They are particularly poignant in the light of the recent news from the Music Venue Trust that the grassroots music venue sector is on the brink of collapse. Can live music venues survive another lockdown?
'During lockdown London’s streets became quiet and these buildings that usually resonate with music were silent and empty of their audiences. These paintings capture that moment of empty stillness’. David Edmond
