Industrial Offcuts: Freed of London


This collection is inspired by Isabel’s visits to the renowned ballet and theatrical shoe manufacturer, Freed of London. There, she observed the meticulous craft processes behind the creation of gleaming dance shoes, all within the worn, industrial setting of the workshop. Isabel views the offcuts gathered not as waste, but as silhouettes of the making process - tangible traces of craftsmanship. The project first took shape as sculptural textile works, assembled from offcuts collected at various stages of production. It has since evolved to include a series of framed works that further refine these materials and techniques, offering an intimate and contemplative view of the industrial craft Isabel celebrates.
