Her daily commute has become a very different adventure and exploring the farm's outdoor spaces on her way to her studio is evident in her new work.
"White Ground is the old name of a field which is located just beyond the boundary of the place where we live. It is located on Exmoor and is farmed by a neighbouring arable farmer. I have watched it variously change during the seasons, since we moved here and I am fascinated by the small, but seemingly swift changes, as it is planted, grown and harvested and affected by the weather." The vessels in this series have been developed from Helen's corrugated clad studio and reference her surrounding and the papery qualities that she has perceived while walking through the gardens and fields adjoining her workshop.
They are made by folding up, unfolding and re-folding very thin shim copper into forms, before they are coated with layers of vitreous enamel and fired at temperature.
