This painting is part of a series which started small as a cut paper collage: it suggested a landscape, but one
thinks of a landscape as a static moment in time. The abstraction of the shapes and the texture suggested
movement and velocity to me, as though it were the journey as well as the space that was being represented.
As it scaled, and went from paper to a much larger work on canvas, it took on an immersive quality.
