These landscape paintings by Mia Cavaliero arise out of the experience of walking the land, the feeling that the artist retains, and from the photos and sketches she makes in the landscape. When Mia is in the studio the painting takes on its own direction and shape from these beginnings. The horizon is always the focus, where the sky meets the land and the atmospheric conditions that are created. A major source of inspiration for Mia this year has been the distinct seasons of autumn and winter and she has tried to capture these more abstractly.
