Sculpture on Talland Bay: Part of the National Garden Scheme's centenary celebrations for 2027

Overview

Cavaliero Finn is excited to be curating its first outdoor sculpture show, organised as part of the National Garden Scheme's centenary celebrations in 2027, in the beautiful grounds of The Old Vicarage overlooking the beautiful Talland Bay right on the South West Coast Path. 

 

The exhibition will take place at The Old Vicarage, Talland, Cornwall, PL13 2JA kicking off with a preview on Saturday 19th June 2027 (by invitation only) and then open daily until Sunday 27th June 2027. 

 

Sculpture has long been associated with Cornwall, a major hub for modern British Sculpture, driven by the legacy of Barbara Hepworth in St Ives, so it feels befitting to curate the gallery’s first sculpture show in this area of outstanding natural beauty.  

 

There is substantial scientific evidence that gardens and natural environments can function as a form of “green therapy,” improving mental health, stress levels, mood, and even cognitive well-being. 

 

Also well documented are the positive effects of art and sculpture on health and well-being. In a recent study commissioned by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), Professor Daisy Fancourt, head of the Social Biobehavioural Research Group said: “Scientific research is increasingly demonstrating that the arts are a fundamental health behaviour, just like physical activity, diet and sleep. As individuals, if we want to live happier and healthier lives, engaging in the arts is an evidence-based way of achieving this.”

 

In its presentation at the Old Vicarage, Talland Bay, Cavaliero Finn will harness the power of both art and nature with its placement of sculptural artworks around the landscape to create an enchanting space of contemplation and reflection. A place of sanctuary and an antidote to the stresses and strains of everyday life.
