Cavaliero Finn presents a selection of sculptural work in ceramic, metal, textile and glass by 15 of the gallery's prestigious artists for this year's Collect, organised by the Crafts Council at Somerset House.
The work showcased this year is inspired by the world around us. Rich in narrative, our artists explore themes of, nature, art, architecture, history, literature and psychology. Each artist uses their knowledge of material and both traditional and explorative new techniques to push their work forwards.
New to the Cavaliero Finn portfolio for Collect this year is work by experimental glass sculptor Edmond Byrne, who presents Ensemble Collection II, a collection of exquisite sculptures developed especially for the fair. This collection sees the artist work with off-cuts of glass fragments he has created previously and held on to over the years. He uses these pieces in a process of assembly, stacking and play, resulting in a series of sculptural pieces that explore tactility, colour psychology and sustainability.
Alongside Edmond's work we are delighted to have a collection of new works by Loewe Prize Finalist Annie Turner, including one of her much sought after Net forms for this year's Collect. Annie's ceramic sculptures are inspired by the river Deben in Suffolk, it's past and present, the cycles of nature and the interaction of man. These are, as she puts it ‘objects that trigger the memory’, as much collective memory as personal recollection.
Ceramic sculptor Matthew Chambers has created a number of new pieces for our stand this year using a new technique he has recently developed where the inner pattern of the sculpture appears to pop out from the outer vessel.
Building on the success of those artists whose work debuted by Cavaliero Finn at Collect 2021, we will exhibit new collections by ceramicist Björk Haraldsdóttir, metal sculptors Cecilia Moore and Simon Gaiger and textile artists Katharine Swailes and Jacy Wall.
Also on show will be new work by the internationally acclaimed ceramic sculptors Frances Priest, Ashraf Hanna, Mimi Joung, Ikuko Iwamoto, Sun Kim and Nicholas Lees.
Cavaliero Finn is delighted to be working with celebrated British contemporary furniture designer Tom Faulkner to showcase its portfolio for Collect 2022. Tom’s show-stopping pieces are made by his team of skilled craftsmen in his Wiltshire workshop are loved worldwide
