Revisit our show Collections for London Craft Week 2025 at Stockwell Studio

9 May 2025
Overview

For London Craft Week, Cavaliero Finn returned to Stockwell Studio to present Collections, an exhibition which explored how artists put together collections to express a narrative, create a sequence or show different sides of the same subject.

Whether a pair, a triptych or a collection of odd and even numbers, this mixed media exhibition looked at how an artist conceives a collection, assembling individual works to create the whole and how collectors respond to this, bringing their own interpretation to their work, often altering the display to suit their own aesthetic. There is a freedom and playfulness to collections that almost cries out for interaction, reinterpretations, rearrangements, sometimes seeing it move away from the original conception in a new home. With collections it's not just about the work itself but also the spaces in between, the interaction between the elements when placed together.

Through this exploration, Collections highlighted the dynamic dialogue between artist, artwork, and collector-where meaning evolves, compositions shift, and new narratives emerge, ensuring that each collection remains a living, ever-changing entity.
